DFC and CARA Programs
The Office of National Drug Control Policy (ONDCP) administers the Drug-Free Communities (DFC) Support Program and the Community-Based Coalition Enhancement Grants to Address Local Drug Crisis (CARA) Program.
DFC grant recipients are community-based coalitions that work to strengthen the infrastructure among local partners to prevent and reduce substance use among middle school and high school youth. CARA is an enhancement grant to the DFC Program. CARA grant recipients include current or former DFCs seeking to prevent and reduce youth misuse of opioids (including prescription medications) and methamphetamines.
Current information on the DFC and CARA programs, including information about the application process and the DFC National Evaluation findings can be found here.
